Islamophobic Remarks :

Hindu nationalist leader and self-described Indian godwoman, Sadhvi Deva Thakur. She serves as vice president of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, a fringe Hindu organization.

Thakur established an ashram in her village a few years ago. She was born and raised in the small town of Bras in the Karnal district of Haryana. She has a modest following, with the majority of her supporters being local villagers.

According to her, India is a Hindu country where minorities are not welcome. She asserted in 2015 that Christians and Muslims should be sterilized in order to control their populations’ growth.

“Both Muslims and Christians are becoming more numerous every day. The government should enact legislation to limit this by prohibiting Muslims and Christians from having so many children. She urged a crowd that they should be made to undergo sterilisation in order to prevent them from proliferating.

The DNA tabloid reported her as saying that statues of Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi’s killer, should be erected in Haryana and that Hindu gods and goddess idols should be shown in mosques and churches.

She was detained by the authorities in 2016 when she opened fire during a wedding celebration, killing one person and injuring three more.
