Islamophobic Remarks :

Introducing Shaun Maguire, Sequioa Capital venture capitalist and pro-genocide founder.

Shaun, known in Silicon Valley for his abrasive personality, has emerged as a particularly xenophobic voice in recent weeks, claiming personal ties to the Israeli military through his wife’s family.

Shaun uses his platform to post conspiracy theories, encourage hatred toward Palestinians, censor reasonable criticism of Israel, and scream down demands for a ceasefire when he isn’t mouthing off IDF propaganda. He is aware of the tone and impact of his words, as seen by the deletion of several entries in recent weeks.

Shaun has regularly amplified statements that point to his complete disregard for human rights and international law and has regularly demonized Palestinians and their supporters.

He has defended McCarthyist demands to stifle dissent on campus and disparaged activists and students demanding an end to Israel’s slaughter in Gaza and a ceasefire. This is in spite of the multiple large-scale demonstrations that Jewish organizations like If Not Now and Jewish Voice for Peace have planned and executed.

He still minimizes the growing number of civilian casualties—over 10,000 at this point—or rejects them completely as some kind of manufactured fabrication. His disdain for human life and lack of empathy seemed to come from a very dark place.

We hope that Shaun’s anti-human rights views were not on Patrick Collison’s radar when he made his recruiting suggestion. Patrick Collison is the CEO and co-founder of payments firm Stripe.

We demand that Sequoia fire Shaun right now for his remarks and denounce his rhetoric. We demand that the venture capital industry band together for the sake of all people and completely stop funding the ongoing genocide carried out by Israel and its administration.
