Islamophobic Remarks :
Sankrant Sanu is a far-right author and businessman who founded and serves as CEO of the Hindu nationalist propaganda publishing outfit Garuda Prakashan.
He is a fervent supporter of native Hindu culture and languages and is the author of the book “English Medium Myth: Dismantling Barriers to India’s Growth.”
Sankrant holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. At the Art of Living Foundation, he teaches.
Sanu, a committed Islamophobe, openly promotes Islamophobia, mainstreams extremist Hindu ideology, and mockingly trivializes the situation of Muslims in India. In 2017, he established the Garuda Prakashan, which publishes works that advance one or more of these goals.
Through his writings and speeches, he frequently concocts and promotes anti-Muslim conspiracy theories. His Twitter feed is a regular source of anti-Muslim prejudice and Islamophobia.
He advocates for the conversion of India into a Hindu nation and supports Hindu nationalist philosophy.
Sanu whitewashes Hindutva, the intellectual foundation of Hindu fanaticism and anti-Muslim atrocities in India, and portrays it as merely a means of’self-defense’ for Hindus. He claims that “Hindutva is Hinduism that resists.”
He stated in 2016 that the government should unreservedly saffronize (Hinduize) in response to alleged inaction on Hindu “civilizational issues.” Compare this to the Communists or the UPA’s policies in power.
The worrying sociopolitical status of Muslims in India is dismissed by Sanu. “There is no reason that Muslim Indians feel any differently,” he wrote for the Swarajya in 2016. “Unless led by the creation of fear or sustained demagoguery to believe otherwise.”
He claims that secularism, one of the pillars of the Indian constitution, is a ‘absurdity’ imposed by foreigners.
He tweeted, “The hijab is a fascist flag,” on the night of World Hijab Day in 2017. The implication is that women who are not hijabi are “loose, open meat.”
He penned an article for News18 in May 2022 in which he urged Indian Muslims to allow Hindus to take control of the mosques in Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura in order to construct temples.
He penned the following in November 2022: “I always find it humorous when religious conservatives who wear hijabs, like Ilhan Omar, are labeled as liberal. Because according to the Left, you can be an ardent follower of Islam who continually promotes a religious agenda and still be considered “liberal.” just for that particular religion.
He said that the Indian government is sponsoring jihad by giving scholarships and other benefits to Muslims, in opposition to government initiatives aimed at uplifting the minority Muslim population. Economic growth is hardly a response to jihad, he wrote. It serves as Jihad’s fuel.
“The ecosystem for jihad is funded by the Indian government. This is accomplished through programs and scholarships, money for madrasas, the Waqf Act, and assistance with halal. In the meantime, it steals from Hindus, steals from temple funds and properties, and stops Hindu schools from competing, he continued.
He uses derogatory terms like “rape jihad” and “grooming gang” to criticize and defame Islam and Muslims.
He spreads hatred and bigotry against Muslims through a number of annoying tweets.
According to Allah, rape is a type of jihad, and women who consent to rape by His terrorists (the Mujahudeen) will enter paradise.
He went on to say that rape was “sanctioned by the Quran” and that Muslims embrace and participate in it as a matter of duty to their religion.
He admitted to The Print in April 2023 that his publishing company, Garuda Prakashan, was instrumental in bringing attention to the problem of “Urban Naxals.” He claimed credit for popularizing the term “Urban Naxals” and pointed to Garuda Prakashan as the sole author of the “memes” on the subject.
“At that point, everyone started using it. just beneath the prime minister. This contributes to our success, he declared.
The Hindu right refers to the liberal-secular elite, which is primarily centered in Indian cities, as “Urban Naxals”.
Vivek Agnihotri’s book “Urban Naxals” was published by Sanu’s publishing firm.
