Islamophobic remarks :
Hindu theologian, philosopher, and yoga acharya (teacher) Pandit Satish K Sharma hails from the United Kingdom. The Council of Hindu Swami’s & Saints in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, have conferred upon him the title of Dharma Sam-Rakshak (Custodian of Dharma) and given him permission to speak on the Six Darshans of Indian Philosophy.
He serves as the chairman of the Global Hindu Federation, an organization that promotes Hinduism globally, especially in the US. Additionally, he has ties to the UK’s National Council For Hindu Temples.
Sharma is a fan of the Hindu nation and thinks that India has always been a Hindu country.
In an interview with the Youtube Channel, ‘Festival of Bharata,’ he said,
“Bharat has always been a Hindu Rashtra because Hindus themselves govern themselves according to dharmic principles, and the only thing that has been taken away is that when the deadly sultanate was there and the Muslim rulers from the Turkish and then the Iranis and the afghanis and so on when they came they imposed a model of governance which was alien to the actual indigenous people of that Civilization. When the British came, they did the same they imposed a set of words and ideas and laws and rules and remember, all of these words and laws and ideas and rules are really statements made by human beings. We buy into them, and therefore they have power, and so the people who did this to the Hindu nation and the Hindu people in the Hindu Civilization. they temporarily injected into the mind of the Civilization some craziness….”
He backs Hindu nationalism, often known as Hindutva. Sharma uploaded a video affirming his support for the Hindu extreme ideology as part of the “I am Hindutva campaign” of the “Festival of Bharat,” a Hindu right-wing Youtube channel.
He has given presentations at TEDx, British colleges, and universities and participated on news panels, claiming to be an emissary of “Dharmic traditions.”
Through his writings and speeches, Sharma has been spreading the notion of “Hindu subjugation” and “Hinduphobia” in the UK. Additionally, he has been attempting to stir up interest in the purported “ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Europe and America” on a number of venues.
Sharma and a number of other people opposed the All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) on British Muslims’ definition of Islamophobia, which had been adopted by the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats Federal board, Plaid Cymru, the Mayor of London, as well as a number of local councils, in an open letter to Sajid Javid, the UK’s then Home Secretary, in May 2019.
Sharma has been at the heart of the anti-BBC demonstrations in the UK, where he has charged the news organization with fomenting anti-Indian sentiment and spreading Hinduphobia. The continued persecution of Muslims in India is a hot topic on the BBC.
