Islamophobic Remarks :
Hindu extreme leader Atul Kumar Sabharwal, often known by the alias Madhugiri Modi, hails from the southern state of Karnataka. He is connected to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), a militant organization that wants to turn India into a Hindu Rashtra (country).
Since Atul Kumar belongs to the Madhugiri administrative division, the suffix Modi that he adds to his given name is a show of his strong affection for the Hindu Nationalist Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
He actively promotes Hindu fanaticism and racial hatred on the ground alongside other HJS members. He frequently shares provoking content on social media under the name “No Compromise with Jihadis – an extreme Hindu organization.”
He published a video in 2020 criticizing the Prophet Muhammad with the intention of upsetting social cohesion. Numerous complaints were filed against him, and the police arrested him for violating the Information Technology Act as well as sections 295 and 295 A of the Indian Penal Code. In connection with the incident, Madhugiri Modi was detained but later released on bail.
Madhugiriand Puneet Karehalli, a member of the same extremist group, the HJS, stormed into a room in a train station in February 2022 and objected to Muslims performing prayers. Notably, the location has long used as a space for Muslim porters to worship.
A Congress lawmaker was publicly threatened with death by Madhugiri Modi. In a video that was made public, he declared, “Kill KPCC spokesperson Nataraj Gowda, I will handle it.”
He is overly taken with the concept of “Bulldozer Justice,” which has gained traction in Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states in India as a way to punish Muslims summarily by demolishing their homes in flagrant violation of the law.
He wrote the following letter and shared it on Hindu right-wing WhatsApp groups under the name Hindu Samrat Sena. “Muslim Terrorist Gangster Ansari’s House Has Been Demolished By Yogiji; In a Few Years, The Prime Minister of Hindu Rashtra Will Demolish The Houses Of Every And Each Supporter Of Muslim Terrorists, Madrasa, And Other Places Of Worship,” said the WhatsApp post.
He frequently shows up at political gatherings led by well-known bigots like the BJP MP and terror suspect Pragya Thakur. He makes efforts to build a strong anti-Muslim front throughout the nation.
He was also charged with spreading false information and animosity toward the Muslim politician and leader Zameer Ahmad Khan.
