Islamophobic Remarks :
The Placard Guy, also known as Madhur Singh, is a social media influencer. He describes himself as a travel blogger and utilizes his considerable audience to promote the anti-Muslim and Hindu supremacist message. He is known for carrying signs with slurs, proclamations, and other phrases that support Hindu nationalism and criticize the situation of Muslims in the nation.
He frequently receives invitations to different podcasts as a Hindu youth icon because of his big social media following. He takes advantage of these platforms in order to shake off his violent mindset.
He mocked Muslims in one of these podcasts for opposing the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, which may potentially deprive Muslims of their right to vote. He went so far as to accuse Muslims of being ignorant of the law and of revolting at the “behest of foreign conspirators who infused exorbitant amounts of money to stir up a rebellion against India.” The person holding the sign openly accused Muslims of organizing the 2020 anti-Muslim racial bloodbath in the nation’s capital. He then resorted to victim-blaming and asserted that the anti-Muslim violence was really an act of ‘well-planned’ anti-Hindu terrorism.
The highest levels of government in the nation support his chutzpah. He frequently appears in photos with prominent members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including Smriti Irani, Nirmala Sitaraman, and Gautam Gambhir. He actively participated in the BJP’s general election campaign in 2019.
One of his signs stated, “Hindu lives matter,” while “Muslim lives matter” and “I can’t breathe,” which represented the hardship of Muslims in India following the terrible death of George Floyd, were trending in India.
