Islamophobic Remarks :
Alok Kumar is the Sanghchalak of the RSS unit in New Delhi as well as the International Working President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). He served as the Delhi Assembly’s deputy speaker in the past.
The VHP is a branch of the far-right Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which was established in 1925 with the intention of establishing an ethnic Hindu state in India. The RSS is modeled after extreme nationalist organizations in Europe.
The VHP is accused of planning many attacks against Muslims and Christians during hundreds of riots around the nation. The group has spent decades advocating for the conversion of India into a Hindu nation.
In July 2019, Kumar is accused of inciting violence against members of the Muslim community in the Lal Kuan area of Old Delhi. He added a communal touch to a parking-space dispute between two guys, one Muslim and the other Hindu.
On July 9, 2019, Kumar organized a protest at which speakers made derogatory remarks about Muslims.
“There were also songs on how India is a country of Hindus and how Kashmir is Hindu and bhagwa (saffron). The crowd dispersed from the march and gathered in front of the main temple at around 1 pm. Unsettling statements were being aired from the temple’s loudspeakers even as local Muslims were preparing meals at the bhandara. A man dressed in saffron robes made the initial address, claiming that Hindus had remained silent for too long. According to the Scroll, he urged Hindus to awaken, saying that Hindus in Gujarat were already conscious and could exact revenge on those who had died in their family.
The Tees Hazari court in Delhi issued an order in March 2020 to file a formal complaint against Kumar for encouraging violence against Muslims.
Kumar frequently disputes the idea that Muslims constitute a minority in India, arguing instead that Muslims and Hindus are genetically related. Kumar visited the riot-affected districts during the February 2020 Delhi pogrom and lauded the guys of the RSS and VHP for killing Muslims.
Hindus have the right to defend themselves if there is a riot and the crowd assaults. And I’m proud of any RSS or VHP members that stood up to the attacks alongside the community, he told ThePrint.
