Hari Shankar Jain

Islamophobic Remarks :

Hindu nationalist Hari Shankar Jain practices law in India’s Supreme Court. Additionally, he serves as the leader of the Hindu Front for Justice.

Jain is well-known among India’s Hindu rightwing for using the judicial system to advance the Hindutva movement. He also participated in the legal defense in the Ram Janmabhoomi civil action trial. In the case, he defended Hindu Mahasabha, a far-right organization.

Mr. Hari Shankar Jain was also the main plaintiff in a civil court lawsuit in 2015 where he asserted that the Taj Mahal was originally a Hindu temple.

He presented the petition before the Agra court and declared that he was hoping to prevail so that he may offer Hindu prayers at the Taj Mahal.

Jain is an outspoken supporter of the cause to erect a temple to Lord Ram on the contentious site where the Babri mosque, built in the 16th century, stood until it was destroyed by Hindu fundamentalists in 1992.

Jain filed a review petition on behalf of Hindu Mahasabha in December 2019 after the Supreme Court of India awarded five acres of land to the Sunni Central Waqf Board in the Ram Janmabhoomi civil litigation, saying that Muslims should not have received the land.

Jain petitioned an Uttar Pradesh court in 2020 to “reclaim” Shahi Idgah Masjid, which he said as the Lord Krishna’s “original janmabhoomi” (birthplace).

According to him, the purpose of the lawsuit is to have the encroachment and superstructure that were illegally built on land Khewat No. 255 at Katra Keshav Dev, city of Mathura, which belonged to the deity Shree Krishna Virajman, removed.

Additionally, he has petitioned a number of courts to have mosques that he views as “disputed” demolished. He has even fought to protect Hindus’ ability to worship in Delhi, India, in the complex of the Qutub Minar, which dates back to the 12th century.

Some of his contentious remarks include:

The Waqf Board currently controls a staggering 6 lakh acres of property, making it the third-largest landowner in India behind the Indian Railways and the Defense Forces. In actuality, the Waqf Board never owned such an absurdly large quantity of land; yet, because to Hindus’ ignorance of and disregard for this legislation, the Waqf Board is practically out of control, annexing thousands of acres of land around the nation. More deadly than love jihad is the land jihad that the Board is waging. He made this statement at the Ninth All-India Hindu Rashtra Convention, which was hosted by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

The Karsevaks gathered in Ayodhya on December 6. The Court’s delay in issuing its decision had harmed the Karsevaks’ religious feelings. Nobody wanted to destroy the Babri building, but Hindus felt strongly that they were being treated unfairly in independent India and were not even allowed to pray. The Babri building was thus destroyed. He told Sanatan Prabhat that Hindus were not even permitted to perform symbolic service.
