Islamophobic Remarks :
Jagdish Pradhan is a politician with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former Delhi Legislative Assembly member representing the Mustafabad Vidhan Sabha seat.
In February 2020, Pradhan was one of the main planners of violence during the Delhi pogrom. His Hindu nationalist allies used swords, rifles, dynamite, rods, chains, and stones to target Muslim communities. The anti-Muslim pogrom, which lasted until February 27, claimed the lives of at least 53 individuals, the majority of whom were Muslims, and injured 500 more.
Muslims who survived the Delhi pogrom mentioned Pradhan’s name several times in their testimonies.
Witnesses to the incident claimed to have seen Pradhan’s supporters participating. According to one of the complaints, Jagdish Pradhan had called the mob leader and given him the order to “get rid off Muslims.”
According to at least three reports, the rioters were individuals who had been Pradhan’s campaigners during the Assembly elections a few weeks prior.
Then, a few individuals who had previously been spotted with Jagdish Pradhan during the polls were ahead of the crowd in addition to the police officers. On the (protest) pandal, they tossed a petrol bomb, and it caught fire. Then, using sticks and swords, they attacked the female protestors, injuring numerous elderly women, according to one complaint.
From the top of Mohan Nursing Home, a Hindu mob began hurling bombs while yelling “Jagdish Pradhan Zindabad.”
“The situation in the area was extremely terrible for the entire day on February 24, 2020. “Jai Shri Ram” chants could be heard in all directions. The Victoria School busses that are close to my house were set on fire by them, the crowd. Another accusation states, “In the evening, I discovered that Jagdish Pradhan’s associates had also set fire to the mosque near the tyre market, and its smoke was visible in the air.”
The Delhi police have received numerous complaints from Muslim victims, but they haven’t yet brought any charges against Pradhan.
