Islamophobic Remarks :
Jonathan Bing made a number of remarks on a Twitter thread co-hosted by Nelson Epega headlined “RADICALIZING CHILDREN IN PALESTINE & ISLAMIST STATES” that seemed to be both excusing and enjoying the murder of Palestinian children, even five-year-olds.
Bing can be heard saying the following things around the area:
- “What I’m sayin’ is, if a 5 year old is in that building and there’s some terrorists in that building, good bye 5 year old [chuckles]. Good bye 5 year old, alright! So they can breed more.” (Timestamp 43:20 – 43:40)
- “If [5 year old Palestinian children] are in the building with terrorists, most likely they are going to be future terrorists – that is terrorist junior and terrorist senior, or terrorist the third, sitting in that [expletive] building. They are all going to meet their maker, period, point-[expletive]-blank.” (Timestamp 43:42 – 43:57)
- “Take them the hell out – I don’t give a [expletive] if there’s 6 kids and 2 [expletive] terrorists, if those terrorists are high level enough, [explosion soundboard effect] goodbye two terrorists.” (Timestamp 44:30 – 44:51)
- “I’m not killing kids, I’m killing collateral damage.” (Timestamp 44:52 – 44:57)
- “I don’t advocate for killing kids, I love children, I cry for children. But there’s a greater good [in killing kids].” (Timestamp 45:02 – 45:07)
- “Fuck their [Palestinian childrens] dreams. Let’s think about the nightmares they’ll cause those families by not eradicating the [expletive] problem.” (Timestamp 45:13 – 45:25)
- “We’re not just cutting the weed, we’re [expletive] pulling it from the root”. (45:26 – 45:30)
Following the space’s conclusion, Bing returned to Twitter to reiterate his claims in response to criticism from worried accounts, declaring that he “100% stands by [his] statements”.
According to Bing, he “simply quoted international law”. Nonetheless, as per the widely acknowledged Geneva Convention, the deliberate murder of minors, along with any non-combative civilian, constitutes a serious violation of these agreements and is deemed a crime against humanity:
“Children shall be the object of special respect and shall be protected against any form of indecent assault,” states Article 77 of Protocol I (1977) to the Geneva Conventions. Regardless of their age or any other reason, the Parties to the conflict shall give them the assistance and care they need.”
According to Article 24 of the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949), “The Parties to the conflict shall take all necessary steps to ensure that children under fifteen, who are orphaned or are separated from their families as a result of the war, are not left to their own resources, and that their maintenance, the exercise of their religion, and their education are facilitated in all circumstances.” This article addresses the protection of children.
