Bio :
Oculofacial, lacrimal, and orbital plastic surgery are the areas of expertise for Dr. Karlin. He completed the intensely competitive and demanding David and Randi Fett Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the UCLA Stein Eye and Doheny Eye Institutes after receiving his ophthalmology training at the University of Virginia.
The goal of Dr. Karlin’s research is to increase the diagnostic precision of orbital disease by employing artificial intelligence. He received an invitation to take part in the esteemed UCLA Faculty Innovation Fellowship program in 2021, and he has an interest in designing medical devices as well.
In 2018 and 2019, Dr. Karlin received the UCLA Department of Ophthalmology Fellow Teaching Award and the University of Virginia School of Medicine Resident Teaching Award.
He sees patients at the Doheny Eye Center UCLA Orange County and the UCLA Stein Eye Center Calabasas.
