Islamophobic Remarks :
Currently serving as a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from the Muzaffarnagar constituency in Uttar Pradesh is Kapil Dev Agarwal. He is serving his second term as a Muzaffarnagar MLA. In the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government, he was named as an independent charge Minister of State, with the portfolios of skill development and vocational education.
He was among those charged with encouraging anti-Muslim violence in the wake of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, which claimed 50,000 lives and resulted in the deaths of at least 62 individuals, most of them Muslims.
Agarwal is charged with making hateful remarks directed at Muslims, disobeying prohibitions, organizing a mahapanchayat without the district administration’s consent, and putting up barriers to prevent public employees from carrying out their duties.
After the Yogi government filed a request to have the cases against Rana and other BJP officials withdrawn from the local court, the charges against them were dismissed in March 2021.
Agarwal was discovered to be willing to incite religious violence in exchange for cash during an India Today sting.
“It must be done without a doubt. As you can see, our mutual knowledge is lacking. However, I always follow through on my promises. It’s a routine. That caused me pain as well, but I don’t back down. I tell the truth. I don’t make wild guesses. Brother, whatever is there is fixed. We’ll get together in the next day or two, or we’ll speak over the phone in code,” Agarwal stated.
