Islamophobic Remarks :
Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Prakash Sharma hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. He is the current vice-president of the BJP in UP, the national convenor of the Bajrang Dal, and a former full-time RSS pracharak. He has also been the national spokesperson for the VHP.
The Bajrang Dal’s involvement in the 2008 anti-Christian violence in Orrisa, which resulted in 35 fatalities, was largely obscured thanks to Sharma. “The Dal has absolutely no part in the violence in Orissa,” he declared.
In the same year, he challenged the then-Indian government to outlaw the organisation, threatening that they would suffer the “consequences” if they did.
“We’re going to fight this ban, and we’re going to tell people how unfairly they treated us. A ban would be expensive for the government given the impending elections, he told Gulf News.
