Sagar Kumar

Anti-Muslim Bigotry :

The main purpose of Sagar Kumar’s work as a news reporter for the Hindu far-right propaganda website Sudarshan News is to incite hatred toward Muslims.

Through his programs on Sudarshan, Kumar spreads misinformation and anti-Muslim conspiracy theories. He calls Muslims “Jihadis” and Muslim-dominated regions “mini Pakistan.”

On April 14, 2022, Sudarshan News broadcast a fabrication alleging that the government-run helicopter service business Pawan Hans Limited was participating in “job jihad” by recruiting Muslims. Sagar posted a disparaging tweet in favor of the misinformation. He wrote, “Not Pawan Hans, Halal Hans!” alongside a caricature depicting the company’s helicopter as only being accessible to Muslims. Additionally, there is a sizable plot against Hindus in this.

Altnews discovered that the assertions were false.

Similar to this, Sagar promoted the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “Love Jihad” after a 22-year-old Hindu girl in Mysuru, Karnataka was allegedly killed by her Hindu boyfriend Ashish. Sagar claimed that the accused was Ashik, a name that sounds Muslim, and that he killed the Hindu girl because of her religion.

Sagar claimed that the accused was Ashik, a name that sounds Muslim, and that he killed the Hindu girl because of her religion.

He posted the false information in September 2022 and said,

Abdul aesa nahi hai, mere wala. Abdul (who I know) is not like that

(The Hindu right-wing uses the pejorative word “Abdul” to refer to Muslims.)

Sagar was described as an ocean of misinformation in a report from the Digital Forensics Research and Analytics Center dated February 4, 2023. The investigation detailed Sagar’s blatant fabrications and defamation of Muslims.

He once more singled out Muslims in March 2023 after a man named Harish was murdered in Hyderabad, Telangana. Harish, he claimed, had married a Muslim woman whose brothers later killed him because he was a Hindu.

The allegations were proved to be untrue because the victim and his wife were both Hindus.
