Samiksha Singh Yadav

Islamophobic Remarks :

Samiksha Singh Yadav, a poet from Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, who calls herself a “Rashtraputri” (Daughter of the Nation), uses poetry as a tool to foment hatred and violence against Muslims. Her popularity among Hindu nationalists, where she has amassed more than a million Facebook fans, continues to climb as she deftly uses words to sow discord among different communities.

Yadav works for the government and is the district sports officer for Uttar Pradesh. She says she has postgraduate degrees in ten different fields. However, all of her poetry contains is misinformation, rumors of conspiracies, and venom directed specifically towards Muslims. Yadav is unique in that she has the temerity to publicly promote violence through her artistic statements whilst holding a position of responsibility in the

Yadav frequently receives invitations to ‘kavi Sammelans’ (poetry events), where she engages in Islamophobia while reciting poems. She publicly denigrates Muslims in these settings by referring to them as “jihadis” and “terrorists.”

Yadav performed her divisive poems at Hastinapur, Uttar Pradesh, in October 2021 at a conference sponsored by the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. She recited the following couplet, calling Muslims “jihadi,”

Jab tak antim Jihadi hai tab tak yudh karenge hum; Jan Chuke hain hum sab Hindu ab sangarsh zaruri hai. We Hindus have endured enough suffering; thus, the war is now necessary. Until only one Jihadi is left, we will fight.

The audience applauded and shouted “Jai Shri Ram” (Hail Lord Rama) as they appreciated the poetry of Yadav, despite its obscene content.

She frequently promotes violence by labeling non-violence as “bharam” (illusion) and “Shatruon ka Jaal” (an enemy trap). She also used teachings from Hinduism to defend violence towards Muslims. Another passage from her poem is as follows:

“Jaane kab in ghaddaron ke sheesh utare jaenge; Ab bhi aankhen band rahi to Hindu mare jaenge. (Who knows when these traitors’ heads will be severed; If our eyes remain closed, Hindus will be killed).”

“Koi bhi uhda dedo ye unmadi hi niklenge,” Yadav stated in April 2023 while addressing a throng at a poetry gathering (kavi sammelan). “Jisme khaenge ye unski barbadi hi niklenge,” he said. Give them any chance, and they will show their craziness; in whatever they eat, they will find destruction; just as snakes never change, even when fed milk; when they shed their skin, they will still be Jihadis.

Yadav’s continual use of aggressive language and divisive discourse is shown in these comments. She reinforces stereotypes and incites hatred by linking a certain group with destruction (in this case, calling Muslims “Jihadis”) and suggesting that their very essence is linked to violence.

She also mockingly implied that Muslims were having affairs with their sisters. By claiming that Muslim fruit and vegetable vendors offer Hindus fruits and vegetables that have been spit and peed on, she urged the gathering to sever ties with the Muslim community. She spread the myth that charity-reliant Muslims want to partition India and establish an Islamic state.
