Upendra Raghav

Islamophobic Remarks :

Upendra Raghav is a nationalist Hindu from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, and a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. He is among those charged in the 2018 Bulandshahr brutal murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh.

400 individuals, including right-wing extremists, formed a crowd on December 3, 2018, and they aggressively tore through the village of Chingrawathi, accusing Muslims of tossing cow corpses into the neighboring jungle. As Singh’s driver tried to stuff him into his SUV and drive him to the hospital, he got struck by a stone while attempting to pacify the unruly throng. But Agarwal’s violent Hindu crowd pursued the vehicle, trapped it in a field, and used a gun to kill the policeman.

In 2015, Singh served as the investigative officer in the lynching case of Dadri. Even after the tragedy, he continued to visit Dadri village on a regular basis to maintain unity and peace among the inhabitants.

In the first information report (FIR), the police listed Raghav as a prime culprit along with eighty other individuals. More than a dozen provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were invoked in the instances, including 124A (sedition), 302 (murder), 395 (dacoity), and 333 (causing serious hurt to dissuade public worker from his job).

Raghav was greeted with flowers, applause, and the phrases “Jai Shri Ram,” “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” and “Vande Mataram” after he and the other accused were freed on bond in August 2019, according to India Today.
