Vinay Krishan Chaturvedi

Islamophobic Remarks :

Poet, author, and editor Vinay Krishan Chaturvedi, also known by the pen name Tufail Chaturvedi, comes from Kashipur, Uttrakhand. He has a reputation of being an ardent Islamophobe who frequently incites hatred and violence against Muslims and Islam through online posts and YouTube videos, aside from poetry and literary engagements.

He calls himself a ‘nationalist thinker’ and advocates the idea of a Hindu Rashtra. He regularly appears on Hindu far-right shows and hosts one Youtube channel where he peddles anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and Islamophobic propaganda. He often invites notorious hate and genocide mongers like Yati Narsimhananda, Pushpendra Kulshreshta, Sanjay Dixit (The Jaipur Dialogues), and others.

In order to insult and ridicule Islamic people, ideas, and practices, he organized a special show called “Deen Ki Dawat” with Sanjay Dixit and Neeraj Atri to “expose Islam” on The Jaipur Dialogue, a Hindu extremist YouTube channel.

Chaturvedi, who calls himself a “expert on Islam,” spreads hatred unchecked. He publicly urges Hindus to arm themselves, referring to Islam as “cancer” and Muslims as “deshdrohi (traitors)” and “malech.”

He has been at the center of the Ghar Wapsi (forced religious conversion) movement and has been exhorting the vicious propaganda rooted in the idea of Hindu superiority and dominance.

At a gathering in Bikaner, Rajasthan, in October 2022, he made a clear association between Islam and terrorism by asserting that “terrorism was born fourteen hundred years ago, with the Prophethood of Mohammad.” He continued by saying that Islam “cannot coexist with other faiths” due to its tendency to dominate. He then offered a remedy, claiming that it would depend on the virility of Hindu males and that their (the Muslim community’s) numbers needed to be outnumbered.

By promoting the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “Land Jihad,” “Love Jihad,” and “ghar wapsi,” among others, he engages in fear-mongering. He has been participating in anti-Muslim demonstrations and events to spread his hateful beliefs against Islam and Muslims.

He held a “Hindu Jagriti Sammelan” (Public awareness program) in April 2023 in New Delhi, when pledges to convert India into a “Hindu Rashtra” and to demonize Muslim minorities were made.

At the conclusion of the two-day seminar laced with hatred, Chaturvedi outlined its goals and posed the following question to each Hindu:

‘Ghar Wapsi’/’Shuddhi,’ as he called it, was the mission to convert at least two Muslims to Hinduism.

to procreate more quickly and with more kids

to acquire armaments and ammunition in support of the “Hindu Rashtra.”

to monetary support the anti-Muslim agenda

Chaturvedi acknowledged giving Monu Manesar, a prominent Hindu extremist convicted of burning alive two Muslim teenagers named Junaid and Nasir on the grounds that they were transporting cows, a loan of one lakh rupees.
