Vivek Premi

Islamophobic Remarks :

Hindu nationalist goon Vivek Premi is a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) member. He was formerly in charge of the Meerut Zone of the Bajrang Dal in Uttar Pradesh. A militant religious group, Bajrang Dal is the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) youth branch.

Premi gained notoriety in 2015 after beating and accusing Riyaz, a Muslim man, of stealing a calf from a cow shed in the Uttar Pradeshi region of Muzaffarnagar.

Premi was detained on suspicion of engaging in rioting, intentionally inflicting harm, making an insult with the goal to disturb the peace, and encouraging animosity between various groups based on religion. The state government gave its approval to the Shamli district administration’s use of the NSA against Premi on July 16, 2015. But a few months later, the Modi administration commanded his release.

A video of Premi forcibly converting a Dalit guy back to Hinduism leaked online in April 2018.

He frequently attacks Muslim men who interact with people of other religions. In order to spy on Muslims dating a Hindu lady, he has established an information network among restaurant staff members including as waiters, cashiers, and kitchen personnel throughout the racially charged, riot-torn districts of Western Uttar Pradesh.

Days prior to Valentine’s Day, we had issued the proclamation “No Love Jihadi should be seen on the streets.” But that’s what took place. A Love Jihadi was apprehended. At whatever cost, we will not put up with Love Jihad,” he declared.

For The Wired US in 2020, Indian journalist Mohammad Ali penned a 10,000-word article on Premi that traced the ascent of a local Hindu goon to the national arena.
