Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri

Islamophobic Remarks :

Right-wing Indian author, filmmaker, and supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. The Tashkent Files and Buddha In A Traffic Jam are two of his movies. Being an outspoken opponent of Islam, he frequently spreads propaganda for the BJP and RSS. Agnihotri was nominated by the BJP government as the Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ cultural representative in 2020 as compensation for his work.

In order to undermine activists and intellectuals who oppose the BJP administration and right-leaning politicians, he wrote the book “Urban Naxals: The Making of Buddha in a Traffic Jam” in 2018.

Agnihotri was crucial in inciting anti-Muslim sentiment and demonizing the Muslim protestors during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) demonstrations in 2019 and the early months of 2020, which indirectly led to violence in February 2020 that left at least 53 people—mostly Muslims—dead and 400 others injured.

“Listen to all the slanderous, anti-Indian cries made during the #ShaheenBagh and #CAAProtests.” He asked the question on Twitter. “What was the true purpose of the CAA protests?

“#ShaheenBagh has evolved into a haven for crooks of all stripes, including pickpockets, car thieves, and drug dealers. There are many different unlawful activities thriving. I wonder why Delhi residents are putting up with this,” he added in a subsequent Tweet.

Other Bollywood actors who supported the anti-CAA protests were also targeted by Vivek.

Vivek spent weeks in August 2020 marketing a book that demonized the Delhi pogrom victims who were Muslim. Along with Kapil Mishra, one of the primary planners of the Delhi pogrom, he supports him and stands on the same stage with him.

Also a sexual predator, Vivek. Actress Tanushree Dutta accused him of sexual misconduct in September 2018.

“I was wearing a towel on my costume and standing behind the camera. This guy (Vivek Agnihotri) wanted me to give cues to an actor (Irrfan). It was an actor’s close-up. It was not even my shot. I was not even going to be in the shot. It was the actor’s close-up, and he had to just look at something and give expressions. This director, he told me, ‘Jao jaake kapde utaar ke naacho, usko cues do,’” she narrated.

Agnihotri published “The Kashmir Files,” a movie in 2022 that denigrates Muslims and feeds into false assumptions about them. Violence and anti-Muslim hatred have been sparked by the movie across the nation. In a number of social media videos that have gone viral, moviegoers are shown yelling hateful statements about Islam and urging others to boycott Muslim-run companies.
