Islamophobic Remarks :
Yogesh Raj, a Hindu nationalist from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, is the district convenor of the Bajrang Dal. He is among those charged in the 2018 Bulandshahr brutal murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh.
400 individuals, including right-wing extremists, formed a crowd on December 3, 2018, and they aggressively tore through the village of Chingrawathi, accusing Muslims of tossing cow corpses into the neighboring jungle. As Singh’s driver tried to stuff him into his SUV and drive him to the hospital, he got struck by a stone while attempting to pacify the unruly throng. But Agarwal’s violent Hindu crowd pursued the vehicle, trapped it in a field, and used a gun to kill the policeman.
In 2015, Singh served as the investigative officer in the lynching case of Dadri. Even after the tragedy, he continued to visit Dadri village on a regular basis to maintain unity and peace among the inhabitants.
Raj was the principal complainant in the initial formal complaint (FIR) filed against unidentified suspects accused of slaughtering cows. Raj disagreed and was discovered to have been involved in inciting the violence, despite Singh’s attempts to persuade him—Singh was slain during the episode.
Along with 28 other named accused and 60 more unnamed demonstrators, the police included Raj as a prime accused in the first information report (FIR). More than a dozen provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were invoked in the cases, including 124A (sedition), 302 (murder), 395 (dacoity), and 333 (causing grievous hurt to dissuade public servant from his duty in order to avoid performing his official duties).
According to India Today, Raj was greeted with applause and the phrases “Jai Shri Ram,” “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” and “Vande Mataram” after he and the other accused were freed on bond in August 2019.
Raj ran for panchayat elections in May 2021 from ward number 5, defeating the other six contenders.
