Islamophobic Remarks :
A Hindu monk and spiritual guide (Acharya), Jagatguru Yogeshwar Acharya Maharaj is connected to New Delhi’s Atuleshwar Dham. Gurukuls are schools run by the Atuleshwar Dham and temple trust where Hindu children receive traditional instruction in their religion.
Acharya is a well-known Kathawachak (storyteller) with strong ties to the ecology of Hindu nationalism. He frequently appears alongside major BJP officials and representatives of various far-right Hindu groups.
Acharya has been inciting fear and hatred toward Muslims behind the mask of spirituality and religious teaching, as he demonstrated during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) gathering in New Delhi in 2022.
Thousands of Hindus were there for the rally, and he added, “The barbaric execution of Manish… The government of Delhi wants such terrorists—a term used to refer to Muslims—and Ma***chas—a term used to disparage Muslims—to commit such heinous crimes.
He claimed that “They (Muslims) have not one, but many children,” promoting the lie that the Muslim population was growing. They intend to get married 14 times and have 40 kids. Then he openly advocated for the extermination of Muslims by saying, “We should target and kill them.”
By saying, “If such people point fingers at our temple, don’t just chop off the fingers; chop off their hands,” he further encouraged and supported violence. Slit their necks if necessary. What could possibly go wrong? There will be a few hangings. We must exercise caution, hunt them down, and kill them.
He keeps a low profile on social media, but his audacity and bluntness reveal the certain impunity and favoritism that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration in India accords to him and people like him. Nand Kishore Gurjar, a BJP member of the Legislative Assembly, and Parvesh Verma also attended the ceremony in Delhi.
