The following tweet was sent by Eli Sennesh, a post-doctoral psychology research fellow at Vanderbilt’s Bastos Lab: “I’m pretty indifferent to what happens to Gazans after October 7.”

Bio :

Eli Sennesh works as a post-doctoral psychology research fellow at Vanderbilt University’s Bastos Lab. Eli studied on probabilistic inference in brains and machines with Drs. Jan-Willem van de Meent, Lisa Feldman Barrett, and Karen Quigley at Northeastern University, where he earned his PhD in 2023. Together with Dr. van de Meent, he completed his thesis on compositional reasoning regarding probabilistic programs, which are computational models that are adaptable enough to include extent models of cognition. Together with Jordan Theriault, he worked with Drs. Barrett and Quigley to explicitly establish the basis of the biological notions of interoception and allostasis in probabilistic regulation of the internal environment. In Fall 2023, he started working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Bastos Lab, where he studied how NHPs’ cortical application of predictive coding was achieved through electrophysiology.
