Garry Tan

Islamophobic Remarks :

Meet Garry Tan, the creator of Initialized Capital, the CEO of Y Combinator, and a former employee of Palantir. Since the beginning, Garry has been a steadfast supporter of Israel’s extermination of the Palestinian people, and he is most recognized for having greatly disappointed the Arab and Palestinian alumni of Y Combinator.

Garry has shifted to his next right-wing cause, which is advocating genocide, after earning a name for right-wing politics in San Francisco. Those close to him characterize him as “uneducated” when it comes to Palestine and Israel, citing his constant posting, un-posting, blocking, and deleting on Twitter as proof. You should be aware, Garry, more than others, that you cannot hide from the Internet or take back your unquestioning support for Zionism.

Garry, for instance, retweets right-wing American Zionist Bari Weiss, who amplifies misinformation from the Israeli government. Garry translates “intifada” as “a call to genocide,” despite the fact that he does not speak Arabic and exhibits a lack of understanding of the term “genocide.”

Garry is not only ignorant in Arabic, but he also doesn’t know what the word “genocide” means. The tweet that follows encapsulates Garry’s comprehension of the idea:

Garry hangs out with some of the worst pseudo-intellectuals and proponents of genocide in Silicon Valley, like Shaun Maguire, who was highlighted on Genocide VC and recently met with Elon Musk and Israeli government personnel to help them with their propaganda effort.

In addition, Garry announced on Twitter that he would be boycotting WebSummit in response to a coordinated removal of previous CEO and advocate for Palestinian human rights Paddy Cosgrave. Later on, it became clear that Adam Fisher of Bessemer Venture Partners was behind this well-planned attack on Paddy.

Garry’s prejudice has caused him to totally disregard YC community members. The creators of Palestinian Youth Clubs claim they have not gotten any funding from the organization, despite the fact that he continues to boast about his support for Israel. This is the case even though there are immediate family members who have been impacted by Israel’s indiscriminate bombing of Gaza’s homes, schools, hospitals, and houses of worship. After October 7, Garry was one of the first people in Silicon Valley to endorse Israel, yet he has done nothing to help Palestinians or other members of his community who have been impacted by Israel’s war crimes.

In fact, Garry just went one step farther in his promotion of racism and genocide by beginning to block members of the worldwide tech community and YC founders who don’t agree with him. This is not shocking, given his open backing of Bill Ackman and his doxxing of pro-Palestine students on American college campuses who demanded an end to Israel’s genocide.

We demand that Garry Tan, a supporter of genocide and human rights, be fired as CEO of Y Combinators right away, and that all other leaders, LPs, partners, and community members cut ties with him. Stop allowing venture finance to fund genocide.
