A politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mohan Singh Bisht now represents the Karawal Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. In 1992, the year the RSS members destroyed the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, he became a member of the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak.
He actively participates in the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, another Sangh Parivar component, in Delhi.
Bisht was one of the main planners of the violence during the February 2020 pogrom in Delhi, where he led groups of Hindu nationalist rioters to attack Muslim neighborhoods with swords, weapons, bombs, rods, chains, and stones. The anti-Muslim pogrom, which lasted until February 27, claimed the lives of at least 53 individuals, the majority of whom were Muslims, and injured 400 more.
We’ve been employed by him for many years. During the pogrom, one Muslim victim recounted Bisht as stating, “Abhi toh in ***** ke dukaan jalaye hain, ab ek ek karke in kutton ko maaro (Only the shops of these ****** have been burned, now kill these dogs one by one)”.
Bisht even launched a grenade created in the nation toward the homes of the Muslim victims.
“Bisht showed up there with his driver and another individual who had heavily tacked on a tikka on his forehead. The moment they came, the crowd began chanting “Mohan Singh Bisht zindabad,” and Bisht instructed them to do the assignment quickly. Then he led the throng into the street. Subsequently, the complainant/applicant witnessed Bisht stealing a bomb from his goon and hurling it.
Despite many court rulings, police have up to now consistently declined to lodge a case naming Bisht.
